The annual 2018 meeting in the Netherlands

       Saturday October 20th 2018
Leiden University, Cleveringaplaats 1 at Leiden
On Saturday October 20st 2018, the annual ONS-meeting in the Netherlands will be held at the premises of the

Leiden University, Cleveringaplaats 1 at Leiden.

Again a number of different subjects will be covered. As previous years, we propose to end the day with a diner in an oriental atmosphere and again as previous year we have opted for the speciality restaurant Asian Palace. We hope that again many people will attend the ONS-meeting and stimulate the mutual contact among the members.

The tentative program will be:

09.30 - 10.15 h Welcome with coffee/tea at the restaurant ‘Grand Café Pakhuis’, Doelensteeg 8, 2311 VL Leiden’, which is less than 100 m. from the University entrance. At 10.15 h. we will proceed from there to the lecture room at the University.
10.30 - 12.30 h Lectures will be held in one of the lecture rooms of the University. Location will be indicated in the entrance hall of the University.
Some of the topics of the meeting will be:
Yiğit Altay: Introduction on the coinage of the Ilkhans (Mongols of Persia);
Karan Singh: Legends on Yaudheya Coins;
Sid Satbhai: Financial Instruments of the Indian National Army;
Patrick Pasmans: Tokens of the Habib Bank.
Paul Stevens: Work in progress
As usual there will also be room for questions, news items, etc. Members are invited to come forward with it.
12.45 - 14.00 h Joint lunch (we booked a buffet-lunch arrangement for € 15.00/p. excl. drinks) at the nearby 'Hortus, Grand Café & Orangerie', Rapenburg 73.
14.15 - 14.45 h Lectures in one of the lecture room of the University; continuation of the morning session.
14.45 - 15.00 h Viewing of the coins for auction.
15.00 - 16.30 h Auction of some Oriental coins. Again a number of coins have been donated to the ONS. With the proceeds of this auction, the ONS will be supported and only 5% commission will be added to the hammer price.
All lots are illustrated at ZENO.RU – Oriental Coins Database.

.
16.30 - 17.30 h Communications among members and informal get-together.

17.45 - c. 21.00 h A drink followed by a diner (ca. €20,=/p. excl. drinks) in the speciality restaurant Asian Palace, Steenstraat 55, Leiden.

We hope to welcome as many members as in previous years.

Travel guide and parking facilities at Leiden:
Leiden can easily be reached by train from either Amsterdam, The Hague or Rotterdam. The University is located at approx. 10 minutes walking distance from the railway-station.

By car the locality can be reached as follows:
via motorway A4 (Amsterdam - Rotterdam): turn off the motorway at "Leiden/Zoeterwoude dorp, resp. Voorschoten", follow N206 direction Katwijk (via Europaweg, Voorschoterweg, Churchilllaan), just before the bridge across the river Old Rhine turn left, (Haagweg) and follow direction "CENTRUM"

Parking
within the city limits of Leiden need, almost without exception, to be paid for. Visitors by car are advised, after having followed the before mentioned route into the direction CENTRUM, to follow the signs P “Haagweg”. From there it takes approx. 5 - 10 minutes to walk to the University. A frequent gratis ‘city shuttle’ service may bring you to our meeting place. For return service dial 071 51 20 071.
A day-ticket (5.5 to 24 hours) will cost € 12,50.

Yours Sincerely,
                Jan Lingen
